AWARDS
IEEE Joseph F Keithley Award 2024 for outstanding contributions in electrical measurements, with citation “for contributions to photonics-based optical frequency and wavelength domain instrumentation and measurement”.This is the highest award given by IEEE in the field of measurement and instrumentation
IEEE Brain Data Bank Challenge Award 2017, which is joint award of IEEE Big Data and IEEE Brain initiatives
Thales Scottish Technology Prize for Laser Technology and Applications, 2008, for “MEMS Lasers”. This prize was awarded for a technology described as “MEMS Lasers”, in particular for the prototype laser system experimentally demonstrated to Thales Optronics showing the replacement of expensive optical components used in their solid-state laser systems e.g. in military rangefinder lasers, by equivalent MEMS components which are compact, have lower production cost and require lower electrical power for operation
Ayrton Premium, 1999, for publication in an IEE Journal (Proceedings - Science, Measurement & Technology). This publication prize was awarded for a peer-reviewed journal paper on nano-tip optical fiber sensors for dissolved oxygen measurements used in bio-sensing applications
J J Thomson Premium, 1998, for publication in an IEE Journal (Proceedings - Optoelectronics). This publication prize was awarded for a peer-reviewed journal paper on nano-tip optical fiber sensors for intracellular pH measurements for biomedical sensing
First Prize in “European Research in New Measurement Techniques” category, Capteurs (Sensors), 1989 Paris. This international prize was awarded for pioneering research on opto-mechanical silicon micromechanical resonator sensors (MEMS resonators)
